A New Beginning - Read First

Below is a letter that is included in the "A New Beginning" devotional packets given out at our church and emailed to many members. It is explanatory for how this devotional series should be viewed and used. For those of you following by way of this blog, here is the plan for postings and whatnot. I will post each devotional on the night before it is to be read. For example, tonight I will post tomorrow's devotional and tomorrow night I will post Tuesday's devotional. This way if anyone wants to spend some early morning time in the Word using the "A New Beginning" material, they will not be hindered by my not having the material posted. Thank you for your prayerful diligence in this study as we as a church seek to find what it is that God has for us to do. For those of you that are not a part of Mt Tabor, please use this material to allow God to explore your heart so that He might make you into something useful for Him once again. So, without further ado, here is the introductory letter:
Greetings

What you have before you is a carefully written devotional that has been thoroughly covered in prayer. This has been written to help us as a church focus our hearts and intentions on attaining the vision that God has for us at this time in our lives. We ask that you, as a member of Mt Tabor, take this devotional and study it carefully over the next month. We ask that you seek God in prayer and try to find out what it is that God would have you to do.

This devotional is to be used as a guide only. It looks at the new beginning Israel faced as it emerged from the Babylonian exile and was commanded by God to rebuild the city of Jerusalem, starting with the temple, as recorded in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah. Each day you will read a short section of Scripture and there will be a brief discussion of the text and how it applies to us today at Mt Tabor. At the end of each day’s study you will find a prayer focus for that day. This should not comprise your entire prayer, but should guide you in your prayer time.

These devotions are intended to unify our church as we ask God for a vision. Please join us for an exciting look into the history of Israel at how God used everyday people to accomplish His purposes. We are praying for you as you embark on this journey and ask again that you commit yourselves to prayer and ask God what it is that He would have you to do. Thank you for your commitment to Mt Tabor.
