March 2020
I want to thank you
for taking this journey with me towards the Resurrection. This is the week
where we pause to take special remembrance of the Promise that God made to save
us and reflect on the sacrifice that made it possible. Quite honestly,
Resurrection Sunday is my favorite day of the church year. This is what it is
all about!
Last
year, our church took a journey to the empty tomb in our week leading up to
Resurrection Sunday. As we reflected on passages of Scripture, we also
worshiped the Risen King each day for what He accomplished for us. This year, I
am asking you to join me in another worship-filled look at the Savior. I know
that we have busy lives and we fill our time with fun and engagement. The week of
the Resurrection is our greatest celebration and a time when we can set
ourselves apart from the greater view of culture that has skewed the target and
object of this celebration. As we prepare our hearts, we see God’s hand working
among us in amazing ways.
This
year, we are taking another step. This booklet is designed to engage your heart
in three ways: reading the Word of God, worshiping the risen Christ, and
seeking God’s face in prayer. I want you to know that you are not alone in
this. You are reading along with your church family. You are praying with and
for First Baptist of Fairburn. As you carry these times of devotion into your
family time, you are growing as disciples together. The intent is for you to
have time with God alone that affects your time with your family. Parents, lead
your children in the reading of Scripture, the song, and the prayer as you have
already read, sung, and prayed. Out of the depths of your spiritual journey in
Christ will you be able to nurture and carry your children and your families.
As with
last year, you will have song lyrics that carry the theme of the devotion. The target
is for worship to well up within you as you read and pray. The passages of
Scripture for this year are the seven sayings of the Cross. These are the seven
statements that Jesus made while He was on the cross being crucified and each
day is in the time order they appear in the Gospels. As you read the Scripture
and devotional reflection, my hope is that His sacrifice for us compels us to
tell others about Him! Each day will conclude with a prayer of commitment and
reflection.
I am
praying for you as you prepare for Resurrection Sunday. I encourage you to
bring others into this journey with you. I love you all and I will see you
Sunday as we worship the Risen King together!
Pastor
Evan.

Hey! I want to hear from you. Let's bridge dialogue as followers of Christ and not followers of the world. I am eager to see how we can grow together!
